Notes: | If you want to taste Widmer's beers, just hop across
the street to the Gausthaus:![]() At the time I visited, my palate still wasn't quite accustomed to the hop onslaught of Pacific Northwest beers. I guess this is why I initially had a great perception of Widmer. As my palate developed, my perception of Widmer evolved, too. I feel that their beers are designed for a more common palate. However, this, by no means, indicates that their beers are bland. They are quite tasty, as a matter of fact. While Widmer makes delectable brews, a serious enthusiast or snob might be disappointed in the fact that Widmer beers aren't very adventurous. Still, I believe their Hefeweizen is a benchmark for the craft beer industry no matter how many times my fellow enthusiasts call me crazy for saying so. |
